Today we left around 7:30 and headed straight for Philadelphia, we arrived there at around 10:30 and had awhile to look around, my group (Tyler, Joe, Tim, Alex, Ethan, Jamison, and me) with our chaperone Mrs.
Cornwall were able to walk around and visit buildings like where the Liberty Bell is and where the congress and House of Representatives first met. After that we ate lunch and then watched a very cool multimedia film about the history of America.
From Philadelphia we headed to Amish Country, there we got a tour guide and got to learn what an Amish person does for church, what clothes they wear, and a little bit of how they live. We then got back on the bus and the tour guide took us around town and showed us school houses, farms, and just plain around Amish Country, I can't believe how many animals they have and how much green there is, I even asked Mrs. Rogers if I could leave the tour and live there. We then headed to dinner, which I was greatly looking forward to since I was, by now, starting to get hungry. For dinner we had an all you can eat buffet and I had a lot of fun finally being able to joke around with my friends from the blue bus, since they had stayed in a different hotel and didn't tour with us yesterday, after dinner we headed to our hotel and got to do what I had been waiting to do for the whole trip. Swim. Although we were only with our bus (white bus) it was still a lot of fun, and a chance to get wet, we all were just hanging out and chatting. Before we left we had a very fun game of Marco Polo, this was our last chance to get our energy out for the day and since then, it is now around midnight, my room of Tim, Joe, Tyler, and I have been just lazing around watching T.V.
I'm am really looking forward to being able to go to Gettysburg tomorrow, all but having to get up at 6:15, eating breakfast and 6:45 and then getting on the bus, so far it has been a lot of fun and I can't wait to see all of you that are reading this that I know when I get back. -A.R-P
Today, me and my fellow peers
went to Amish Country. Everyone went and had a great time. At first we stepped
into the house and she started talking about the Amish way of life. How they
went to church, when they went, and who they went with. After that she brought
us into the kitchen and started talking about how they heat everything in the
house and how they never used electricity. It was really neat. Most of the
people in the room were engaged in what she was talking about. That’s a first!
We went upstairs into the girl’s room after making sure we got as much
information as we possibly could. The woman there showed us what the Amish girls
and woman wore on daily basses. What they wear to church, to work, and just
around the house. So now were in the boys room listening to her tell us what the
boys wore. Guess what? Young boys had to wear girly dresses. Gross!
Everyone is on the bus now, listening to the woman gives us a tour
around the area. It was really cool, a little different, but really cool. They
raised a lot of animals. Dear, goat, horses, cows, I think it was about every
animal on Earth. Also there was a school almost around every mile, so the kids
didn’t have to ride scoters or walk very far to school. The way they got around
was very awesome. They got pulled around by horses in little cradles. We saw a
bunch of them. Around the end of the tour everyone got to ask questions they
had. I bet that everyone put together we all asked at least 45 questions.
Everyone definitely got a lot more out of it after everyone asked questions.
Everyone is having a great time, I know I am. - Tyler
