Ongoing Training Opportunities

Spinning is an ideal exercise for people at different levels of physical fitness and with different goals. With no complicated moves to learn and music that begs your legs to pedal, this class is bound to be fun and challenging.

This group class is a fun, energizing, indoor cycling class that is suited to all levels of fitness. The wonderful thing about Spinning is that each bike has its' own tension and ultimately the rider is in control of the workout received. The instructor will lead you on rides that will simulate outdoor riding conditions -- hills and flats -- using a variety of tempos and positions all set to motivating music.

As a "base" is built and the student progresses through the Endurance phase, concepts such as pedal efficiency, breathing, relaxation, and visualization will raise the level of cycling enjoyment and progress the student toward higher fitness levels.

Spinning is taught by Carla Carver and Michael Proulx.

Schedule (classes are currently underway for the Early Winter session, but drop-ins are allowed pending room. The next 6-week session of classes will begin the week of Jan. 3rd):

Triathlon Training Class

The Bath YMCA announces a new six-week sprint-distance triathlon training class beginning January 19, 2009. Jump start your New Year’s resolution by joining this exciting class that combines swimming, running, and biking for a great workout. The class is geared toward athletes of all levels, from beginners to experienced competitors.

According to Triathlete Magazine, participation in triathlons has increased by over 300 percent in the last five years. A triathlon event can be a fun and diverse challenge for both beginners and seasoned athletes. This class can introduce you to the sport or refresh a stale workout routine.

On Mondays and Fridays we will run for 30 minutes, then swim for 30 minutes. On Wednesdays, we will use the spin bikes for 30 minutes, followed by a 30 minute swim.

This is a great way to meet people, challenge yourself, and participate in a fitness program that is fun, social, and will get you in great shape!
